Aiken, S.C. (WJBF) — A historic season for the Silver Bluff Bulldogs volleyball team came to an end in the SCHSL 2A state semifinals on Monday night.

Silver Bluff was swept by Academic Magnet (25-16, 25-12, 25-13).

“First high school team going this far in the playoffs,” Silver Bluff head coach Helen Drayton said. “It means a lot. I’ll always hold it dear to my heart. I mean we’ve grown as a team. We have a bond that will never be broken, and I just love them. I told them don’t hold your heads down. We did a whole lot this season, I mean we’re not going to state, but we broke a lot of barriers at Silver Bluff. If I wasn’t on TV I’d probably be crying right now, but I love those girls.”

The Bulldogs became the first team in program history to make a state semifinals appearance.
