Utility work near polling site draws complaints

AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF) Some complaints about construction work getting in the way of voters heading to   Paine College.

The group I love Augusta was visiting  polling sites and  shared these pictures of   Georgia power cranes working on Druid Park Avenue.,  with the road blocked and a detour sign.

The group contracted the Justice Department to complain about voter suppression  and the mayor’s office to get the crews to stand down.

” The whole street was blocked off you could not get in and it was like the major artery going into the voting area we contacted the mayors office and we reached out to Georgia powers the southern company and the mayors office reached out to asked them to stand down so we tot it done.

Elections Director Lynn Bailey said she was contracted by the Justice Department about the incident but says the group never contacted her with their complaint.
