Roundtree builds on vote total in re-election win

AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF) Four years ago Richard Roundtree made history becoming the first African American to be elected Richmond County Sheriff, four years ago Roundtree got 63 percent of the vote this time around he bettered that 73 almost 74 percent of the vote so Roundtree in the last four years has convinced a lot of voters he is the man for the job.

I think it validates the effort that we’ve done four years ago the hard work we put in we just didn’t stop at winning the election once we won we put boots on the ground and started putting programs in place building the community spirit and relationship back up we are a better Augusta for the efforts we’ve done the last four years.

And while the sheriff is celebrating victory and it is a bittersweet one he lost his mother last Thursday she passed away in Augusta George Eskola WJBF NewsChannel; six
