Roundtree dismisses ethics complaint after election

Sheriff Richard Roundtree

AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF)  cloud hangs over Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree’s head as he heads into his second term.

Roundtree celebrated an easy re-election win last night capturing more than 70 percent of his vote over opponent Brian McDuffie.

Last month McDuffie filed an ethics complaint against Roundtree for using on duty deputies in a campaign video, McDuffie says that complaint will move still forward.

“It will pick up after the conclusion of this election and it is something if elected sheriff or not that I’m still going to carry forward with this to the fullest extent of the law,” said McDuffie.

“We feel that we have nothing to worry about we’re not even paying attention to that what so ever we’ll cooperate with the investigation any way they ask but we’re moving forward  January first 2017,” said Roundtree.

Roundtree says he’s ecstatic about what the Sheriff’s office can accomplish over the next four years.
