UTAH (ABC NEWS/WJBF) – A 16-year-old high school student is in custody after stabbing 5 classmates and then himself on Tuesday.
ABC News reports that the injuries to all are non-life-threatening.
The Alpine School District’s Facebook page states that the incident happened in the boys’ locker room just before 8 a.m.
The suspect was taken into custody by the school resource officer.
All five victims and the suspect were taken to area hospitals for their injuries, ranging from critical to fair.
School officials say the suspect was a new student who was previously homeschooled.
District spokeswoman Kimberly Bird says he was a straight-A student with no disciple problems.
She says the stabbings happened as the students were preparing for a morning physical education class.
Investigators determined that the school is safe and has resumed normal activities.
Counselors and social workers are on hand at the school.
