New development should draw university and downtown customers

AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF)  One of the cornerstones of the Laney Walker Bethlehem development project should soon being t taking shape.

As we first told you Tuesday, Commissioners approving a zone change for the long discussed “Foundry Place”

This will be a mixed used apartment complex with green space, club house and pool, as well as room for small businesses

City officials believe the location across the street from Augusta University will make it a sought after location.

“From a marketing study stand point the numbers yield that whether it be from an undergraduate graduate standpoint or the University workforce what we found is there’s like 40 thousand persons working in that area within a two mile radius the numbers bare out there’s a demand for the product ”

Since the city owns he site it will lease the property to the developer, the terms of the lease agreement were not announced.
