NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN/WATE) — Five elementary school children were killed Monday when their bus ran into a tree and light pole in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Dr. Kirk Kelly, the interim superintendent of Hamilton County Schools, confirmed the deaths on Tuesday and said three of the children were in the fourth grade, one was in first grade, and another in kindergarten.

The family of 9-year-old Cordayja Jones confirmed she is one of the five victims.

A second student, 6-year-old D’Myunn Brown, was also confirmed to be a victim of the crash by his family. He was a first grader.

The identities of the other students have not yet been released.

A fund has been set up by the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga to help those impacted by the crash. The department of education said the Community Foundation is working with the United Way of Greater Knoxville to ensure those funds are dispersed effectively and efficiently to those in need.
