AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – The suspect in Sunday’s officer involved shooting has been identified as 25-year-old Justin Pollock.

Aiken County deputies responded to a 911 call on Cherokee Drive in Beech Island for a suspect armed with a handgun standing in the roadway around midnight.

While deputies were on the way to the scene, 911 received another call, this one from Pollock identifying himself as the person standing in the roadway.

Pollock told dispatchers that he was armed with a handgun and would kill deputies if they confronted him. He also threatened to harm himself.

Upon arrival, deputies found Pollock standing in the roadway armed with a machete.

When asked to disarm himself, Pollock reportedly charged at the deputies. They then fired at him.

Pollock was then taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

This is an on-going investigation by SLED and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Aiken County deputies responded to a 911 call on Cherokee Drive in Beech Island for a suspect armed with a handgun standing in the roadway around midnight. When Deputies arrived, they say they located man armed with a machete. They say the suspect also told deputies he had a handgun.

The armed man was shot by the responding deputies when officials say he came towards them. The suspect was taken to the hospital, in stable condition, with two gunshot wounds. This is an on-going investigation by SLED and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
