AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) — The Augusta Jaguars men’s basketball team is off to a tremendous start to its 2016 season.
With a 76-72 victory over Wingate on Sunday, the Jags improved to 5-1 on the season.
Senior guard Keshun Sherrill has led the way averaging 23.5 points per game as the Jags prepare for the final two games of the non-conference slate.
“Still, we have some weaknesses,” head coach Dip Metress said. “We have to get some consistent play from more than one guy. We’ve been getting some good nights from some guys individually, Keshun has been dynamite, but we’ll keep getting better. A lot of these guys are still sophomores, so they’re growing into that role and we look forward to watching them develop.”
The Jags are confident they can continue to improve.
“For us, the sky is the limit to be honest,” sophomore forward Deane Williams said. “Obviously, we’re 5-1, so we’ve shown a little bit of what we can do, but there’s still a lot more to come from guys.”
Augusta returns to action Sunday afternoon at Bowie State.
