Augusta, GA — What can a woman do when she’s addicted, down in the dumps, and losing hope? She can knock on the door of Hope House and get on the road to recovery. They is always ready to help a woman and her children get their life back on track. It’s not always easy, but it can be done.
For Hope House, their main goal is to break the cycle of addiction and poverty in both women and children. That includes teaching women how to become self-sufficient by overcoming the barriers that have prevented them from being able to car for themselves and their families. All residents at Hope House are evaluated by a psychiatrist, screened for medical conditions, and attend counseling sessions and classes. It goes beyond just the needs of the mother, though.
Hope House offers holistic treatment, which means they also assist with the needs of the minor children and sessions with extended family members. Residents are also given the chance to gain life and coping skills, education, job training, and even parenting classes. All of this is done while providing housing, something that has been shown to be more effective than treatment alone.
You can help make a difference in a woman’s — family’s — life by supporting Hope House. If you’d like, you can donate items such as sheets and towels and personal care items, or you can even help give a child who’s mother is seeking treatment a special birthday. You can also simply make a monetary donation. You’ll find all the information you need on their website: http://www.HopeHouseAugusta.org.
