AIKEN CITY, S.C. (WJBF) – New developments in the City of Aiken are putting traffic congestion back in the spotlight.

On Monday night, the city council approved the annexation of a 48-unit complex.

The 5-acre development is going on Owens Road, right off the already congested Dougherty Rd.

Some people feel the multi-family unit could further aggravate the traffic in that area.

In an effort to lessen the congestion, the Aiken City Council discussed creating a road to connect Pine Log Rd and Dougherty Rd.

They also suggested adding a road that connects Silver Bluff Rd to Whiskey Rd.
