AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Some local elementary school students made a special trip to deliver toys to less fortunate kids in the CSRA.

Two 1st grade classes at Edmund-Burke Academy in Waynesboro, Ga. donated more than 50 new unwrapped toys to the non-profit organization Toys for Tots.

As a special surprise for the kids, Santa Claus made a guest appearance at the toy store.

“We want to teach the kids that it’s better to give then receive and what better way to do it then helping out kids that are less fortunate,” said 1st grade Teacher Ashlie Mcclellan.

“Exactly we are a blessed school, a bless community and we want our first graders to understand that the true meaning of Christmas is giving.” Hadley Harrison, 1st grade Teacher, told WJBF NewsChannel 6.

Teachers say this is the second year they’ve done the toy donation and plan to continue the tradition next year.
