AUGUSTA,Ga Augusta’s Mayor Hardie Davis wants to move on from the debate over whether commissioner Marion Williams should be paid for serving on the planning commission.
Williams has argued for more than a year that he should be paid for serving as the ex-officio member of the Planning board.
This use to be a paid job but that stopped in 2011.
After weeks of discussion Mayor Davis called on Williams to abandoned the issue, but Williams says he will not.
” I work hard for this job I do what I’m suppose to do I’m not saying I’m always right but I’m always out front I’m going to continue to fight this battle even if I have to take it to court I’m not going to sit back like it don’t exist,” said Commissioner Marion Williams.
Last month commissioners voted to pay Williams 450 dollars for attending three planning meetings, however that vote was then reconsidered and not action was taken.
