Fmr. Augusta Utilities Director Max Hicks dead

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Former Augusta Utilities Director Max Hicks has died.

Hicks became widely known as the face of Augusta’s water crisis and its corrections in the late 1990’s.

Under his watch, the city turned things around with a quarter of a billion dollar upgrade to the water system.

Those upgrades included a new water treatment plant on Tobacco Road, which was named for him.
