Plant Vogtle construction agreement

After billions of dollars of investment, the futures of Plant Vogtle and V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant are in question. Westinghouse Electric, the company contracted to expand those nuclear power plants, filed for bankruptcy protection Wednesday.

(WJBF) – Georgia Power has extended an agreement to keep construction going on Plant Vogtle after the project’s main builder filed for bankruptcy.

It was back in March Westinghouse Electric filed for bankruptcy protection.

Georgia Power says they’ll now continue working on the two nuclear reactors until June.

Six-thousand people work at Plant Vogtle.

Company officials say they’re still studying costs and a timeline for several options.
