UPDATE (11:15am) – Police in Mississippi have identified the man accused of killing eight people, including a sheriff’s deputy, at three different locations Saturday night. Cory Godbolt is in custody.
While police have said it would be premature to discuss a motive, Godbolt himself discussed his actions with reporters from The Clarion-Ledger immediately after his arrest. Among other things, he told them he had not intended to be captured alive.
“My intentions was to have God kill me”, Goldbolt is quoted by the paper as saying. “I ran out of bullets”.

BROOKHAVEN, MS (AP) – Authorities in Mississippi say a suspect is in custody after eight people were killed in a shooting, including a sheriff’s deputy.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman Warren Strain said the shootings occurred at three separate homes Saturday night in rural Lincoln County.
Strain says charges have not yet been filed against the suspect and that it would be “premature” to discuss a motive.
It was not clear whether the suspect knew his victims before allegedly killing them.
