UPDATE: Fatal crash in Columbia County, man charged

 

UPDATE: COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Columbia County deputies have released the name of the man facing charges after the fatal wreck on I-20 in Columbia County.

43-year-old Steven Scott Rockmore of Wrens, Ga. has been charged with homicide by vehicle by 2nd degree, following too closely, and driving too fast for conditions.

According to deputies he has bonded out of jail and was behind the wheel of the tractor-trailer that caused the wreck.


UPDATE: COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – The victim of a deadly accident in Columbia County has been identified.

The Coroner says 84-year-old Gilber Engle from Thomson was killed when his car was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer that crashed him into the car that was in front of him, sending him into the guardrail and overturning.

Two other people in the front car were hurt.

Charges are pending against the driver of the 18 wheeler truck.


COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – According to Columbia County Dispatchers, there has been a fatal rollover on I-20 westbound at mile marker 186.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says, one lane is open and the accident involved an 18 wheeler and silver passenger car.
