Operation Southern Shield aims to prevent traffic deaths

The Aiken County Sheriffs Office was searching for two suspects who opened fire during a car chase Thursday night.

(WJBF) – Georgia and South Carolina are joining a multi-state effort to prevent more traffic deaths by getting drivers to follow the speed limit.

“Operation Southern Shield” begins Monday.

The week-long state trooper enforcement initiative will be in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee.

State troopers will be pulling people over who driving more than 10 miles an hour over the speed limit.
