Deadly crash in Aiken County

UPDATE: AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – One person is dead after a traffic accident in Aiken, S.C.

It happened on Gray Mare Hollow Road, near Sleepy Hollow Farm Road in Aiken, just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday on the 1900 block of Hopie Road.

According to Aiken County Coroner, Tim Carlton, it was a two vehicle collision that resulted in the death of 45-year-old Michael S. Harden of Jackson, S.C.

Harden was riding east on Gray Mare Hollow Road on a Yamaha motorcycle when a 1998 Dodge Ram crossed the center line and struck Harden’s motorcycle.

The driver has been identified as Melissa Pryor of Aiken, S.C.

Pryor attempted to flee on foot after the fatal crash but was later captured by law enforcement.

Harden was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
