The total solar eclipse marks the biggest tourist event in S.C. history

SOUTH CAROLINA (WJBF) – South Carolina Tourism Officials say roughly 1.6 million people traveled to or within the state for the solar eclipse last month.

Most traveled to the Charleston, Greenville or Columbia areas.

The state’s parks, recreation, and tourism department says the eclipse had a total economic impact of $269 million dollars making it the biggest tourist event in the state’s history.
