AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Thousands are expected to be visiting the Garden City for the 70.3 Ironman Triathlon.
The competition is the largest half Ironman in the country.
More than 3,700 athletes are expected to compete on Sunday.
A number of roads in downtown Augusta will be blocked to make way for the Ironman 70.3 Triathlon
- The westbound lane of Broad Street between 8th and 9th Streets will close Friday evening, September 22 and remain closed until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24.
- Gordon Highway ramps will be closed at Broad St. and Bay St. from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on September 24.
- The 5th Street Bridge will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on September 24.
