Silent September may become seasonal for some leagues in S.C.

(WJBF) – Last month, 10,000 families in South Carolina were asked to keep silent while watching their kids play soccer.

The South Carolina Youth Soccer Association says the mandate stemmed from bad parent behavior on the sidelines.

Silent September was so successful that some leagues chose to continue the policy through the whole season.

The Soccer Association says the policy has helped retain more referees.
