A key proposal in the 2018 Augusta budget faces opposition

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – A key proposal in the 2018 Augusta budget is facing a lot of opposition.

The City Administrator is recommending a two percent excise tax on manufactures.

This would bring in more than one point two million dollars in new revenue.

Finance Committee Chairman Sean Frantom says the tax doesn’t have commission support, but if the recommendation is dumped, that would leave a large hole to fill.
