S.C. lawmakers are trying to create policies to combat opioid crisis

SOUTH CAROLINA (WJBF) – In South Carolina, lawmakers are also trying to create policies to combat the opioid crisis.

One approach includes working with doctors on how they prescribe medicine for long-term chronic pain.

That’s important because, the longer a person is on a medication, the easier it is for them to become addicted.

The problem is even tougher to tackle in rural areas because of access to medical care.
