Child Dies after being hit on Tobacco Road

UPDATE December 25th  (WJBF ) – The Richmond County Coroner says that a 5 year old has died from injuries he sustained after an accident.

Officials say 5 year old Jeremiah Joel Douse died from multiple blunt injuries after attempting to cross Tobacco Road at Raintree Drive with his Uncle.

Officials say the two stepped into the path of a 2016 Ford F-150. Both were taken to Augusta University Medical Center where Douse died Monday afternoon.

No autopsy will be done. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office


AUGUSTA (WJBF) –  The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office confirms the victims are a man and a child.

Charges have not yet been filed against the driver of the vehicle.

NewsChannel 6 cannot confirm whether the victims are related, but we will be working to get that information as it becomes available.

AUGUSTA (WJBF) – Two pedestrians are in the hospital after they were hit by a vehicle.

Dispatch confirms the incident happened in front of the Dollar General at Tobacco and Windsor Springs Roads.

They said  there were injuries, but we do not know how severe.
